Outside Plant Field Engineer

 

Orange County Fiber in Orleans, Indiana is now accepting applications for the position of Outside Plant Field Engineer primarily working in the Orange, Lawrence, Martin, Washington, Dubois, and Crawford County area and occasionally assisting in other counties as needed.

 

The Field Engineer is involved with the design, drafting, and implementation of fiber build projects as we extend our services to the surrounding areas. The position requires cooperation with the fiber construction crews and will report to the Fiber Construction Manager. The Field Engineer will spend a significant amount of time in the field staking and inspecting fiber paths both aerial and underground. This professional will also be responsible to coordinate efforts in a timely manner for repairs and maintenance, as needed. This position requires work outside in all types of weather. This is a full-time position with on-the-job training.

 

Preferred candidates will possess the qualifications listed below.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • 2+ years of positive customer service or field-based experience preferred.

  • In-depth understanding of outside plant construction techniques.

  • Extensive knowledge of aerial and underground utilities.

  • Basic Fiber optic knowledge: SM, MM. SC. LC, APC, UPC, including splicing techniques.

  • General knowledge of networking.

 

Personal & Position Qualifications

  • Must have familiarity with Microsoft office/Mac OS products and aptitude to utilize computer mapping and ticket management software, as well as drafting and engineering programming.

  • Must be physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and walk on various terrain.

  • Must be physically able to sit or ride in a vehicle for extended periods to multiple service areas.

  • Must be able to lift, carry and move up to 25 pounds and utilize color perception.

  • Must have the ability to focus on accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Must be capable of meeting deadlines. 

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, members, and others.

  • Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision.

  • Must have and maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license.

  • Ability to work overtime, and on a rotating on-call basis after hours and on weekends.

Member Service Technician II

Orange County REMC in Orleans, Indiana is now accepting applications for the position of Member Service Technician II. The technician will primarily be working in the Orange, Lawrence, Martin, Washington, Dubois, and Crawford County area and occasionally assisting in other counties as needed.

 

The Technician is involved with selling and/or installing of products and services to meet the needs of our members, servicing accounts, obtaining member orders, and establishing new accounts. The technician will be responsible for monitoring competition by gathering current marketplace information. The technician will be expected to maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks. The technician will be responsible for recommending changes in products, services, and policies by evaluating results and competitive developments. The position requires historical records to be maintained. The employee will be required to meet sales goals and contribute to team effort by accomplishing related projects. This is a full-time position with on-the-job training.

 

Preferred candidates will possess the qualifications listed below.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • 3+ years of sales experience.

  • Experience in Honeywell Home Security and Surveillance systems is a plus.

  • Marketing, promotion, advertising sales, or business administration is preferred.

  • Must be familiar with office software and phone systems.

 

Personal & Position Qualifications

  • Must have customer service experience.

  • Must have prospecting skills, negotiation skills, and presentation skills.

  • Must be self-confident and confident in their knowledge of the product.

  • Must be physically able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and walk on various terrain.
