Office Manager
 

Orange County REMC in Orleans, Indiana is now accepting applications for the position of Office Manager primarily working at our headquarters in Orleans, Indiana but assisting in other areas of the service territory, as necessary.  

 

The Office Manager is to be a collaborative leader that advises and supports the General Manager/CEO on matters concerning general management, competitive positioning, and operation of the Cooperative services. The Office Manager will provide leadership and interact with other members of the Cooperative’s Senior Staff on matters relating to vision, strategic plan, and the general operations of the Cooperative. This is a full-time position. 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

  • Oversees general office operations and gives periodic reports to the General Manager/CEO 

  • Coordinates appointments and schedules and manages staff calendars 

  • Manages filing systems and office supplies, maintains in-house IT infrastructure, and keeps inventory of orders 

  • Oversees staff interactions and responds to their queries on office management issues 

  • Monitors office management and designs innovative work systems 

  • Works with the Human Resources administrator to update office policies and onboard new hires 

  • Oversees visitor experience and answers direct phone calls 

  • Plans all in-house or off-site activities of the organization 

  • Manages all insurance and Workers Compensation claims 

  • Executes bi-weekly payroll processing 

  • Arranges travel processes, including flight and hotel booking, and car rentals for employees and Board of Directors 


QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Preferred candidates should possess the following: 

 

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, or any related field 

  • Five to seven years of experience as an Administrator or Office Manager 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Additional qualification or certification as an Administrative Officer or Secretary

  • Analytical abilities

Journeyman Lineman

 

Orange County REMC in Orleans, Indiana is now accepting applications for the position of Journeyman Lineman primarily working in the Orange, Lawrence, Martin, Washington, Dubois, and Crawford County area and occasionally assisting in other counties as needed. The hiring team would also consider an applicant who is currently enrolled in a certified lineman apprenticeship program.

 

The Journeyman Lineman is responsible for line construction, installation, and maintenance. He or she is to assure continuity of service for the rural electric distribution system. This position requires work outside in all types of weather. This is a full-time position with mandatory overtime and a rotating on-call schedule.  

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education & Experience​

  • High School diploma or GED required

  • Completed a recognized apprenticeship program by the U.S. Department of Labor

    • Hiring team would consider applicants who are currently enrolled in a certified lineman apprenticeship program

  • Must have a valid Class A CDL and meet DOT regulations


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles and practice in line construction service, operation, and maintenance requirements of an electric distribution system.

  • Working knowledge of the operations, maintenance, and repair of switching and sectionalizing equipment.

  • Working knowledge of the installation of transformers, wiring of transformer banks, regulators, capacitors, and other electrical equipment.

  • Knowledge of RUS line specifications, National Electric Code, National Electric Safety Code, and OSHA Rules and Regulations.

  • Experienced in CPR and First Aid.

Personal & Position Qualifications

  • Must have familiarity with Microsoft office and aptitude to utilize computer mapping and ticket management software.

  • Must be physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and walk on various terrain.

  • Must be physically able to sit or ride in a vehicle for extended periods to multiple service areas.

  • Must be able to lift, carry and move up to 50 pounds and utilize color and smell perception. Must have the ability to focus on accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Must be capable of meeting deadlines.

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, members, and others.

  • Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision.

  • Must have and maintain a CDL.

  • Must live within (or relocate to within 1 year) the Orange County REMC service territory.

  • Ability to work overtime, and on a rotating on-call basis after hours and on weekends.

Materials Assistant

 

Orange County REMC in Orleans, Indiana is now accepting applications for the position of Materials Assistant primarily working in the Orange, Lawrence, Martin, Washington, Dubois, and Crawford County area and occasionally assisting in other counties as needed. 

​

The materials assistant is responsible for maintaining warehouses, pole yards, and related areas. He or she will be responsible for keeping those areas as well as the material bins and storage areas in a well-stocked and orderly fashion. This individual will receive, and sort materials retired from the distribution system as well as complete appropriate material record keeping. The materials assistant will accept and unload deliveries. The individual will recommend material purchases to the Materials Manager to maintain an adequate working stock. The individual will be responsible for keeping the cooperative vehicles clean and serviced at the appropriate times. The materials assistant is to work alongside the line crews to supply materials and supplies for work orders and jobs as needed. Occasional overtime is required. Participation in the Cooperative’s Annual meeting is also required. The individual will complete other tasks deemed necessary by the Materials Manager, Operations Manager, and the General Manager/CEO. This is a full-time position with on-the-job training.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education & Experience​

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • 2+ years of positive customer service or field-based experience preferred.

Personal & Position Qualifications

  • General electrical system knowledge

  • General computer skills – email, spreadsheets, inventory management software

  • Must be physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and walk on various terrain.

  • Must be physically able to sit or ride in a vehicle for extended periods to multiple service areas.

  • Must be able to lift, carry and move up to 25 pounds and utilize color perception.

  • Must have the ability to focus on accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Must be capable of meeting deadlines.

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, members, and others.

  • Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision.

  • Must have and maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license.

  • Ability to work overtime, and on a rotating on-call basis after hours and on weekends.

Underground Locator

 

Orange County REMC in Orleans, Indiana is now accepting applications for the position of Electric/Fiber Locator primarily working in the Orange, Lawrence, Martin, Washington, Dubois, and Crawford County area and occasionally assisting in other counties as needed. 

​

The Underground Locator is responsible for locating and marking time sensitive locate requests for daily and emergency work, ensuring all locates are properly marked. You will assist with investigating, surveying, and staking electrical lines. This position requires work outside in all types of weather. 

​

This is a full-time position with on-the-job training. 

​

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education & Experience​

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • 2+ years of positive customer service or field-based experience preferred.

  • Basic electrical and wiring knowledge preferred.

  • Basic fiber optic communication knowledge preferred.

​

Personal & Position Qualifications
