Discount Programs

Lifeline Discount Program

Lifeline is a federal benefit that lowers the monthly cost of phone or internet service. If you qualify, your household can get Lifeline for phone or internet service, but not both. You are only allowed to get one Lifeline benefit per household, not per person. If more than one person in your household gets Lifeline, you are breaking the FCC’s rules and will lose your benefit.

Orange County REMC is committed to helping qualified low-income individuals pay for telephone or qualified internet services.

Please stop by or contact our office at 812.865.2229 to determine if you meet the Federal Poverty Guidelines.  If so we will assist with the application and proof of eligibility.  After Orange County REMC receives your completed application and the required proof of eligibility, we will establish the effective date for your discounts to begin and issue the appropriate credits.

You must notify Orange County REMC when you are no longer eligible for Lifeline or ACP. You must also verify your continued eligibility annually (or as requested) with Orange County REMC. If there is someone else at the address who is receiving a Lifeline discount and you wish to be considered a separate economic unit, please contact our office at 812.865.2229 and eligibility will be determined.

The telephone discount may not be transferred from one carrier to another if it has been transferred within the last 60 days and an internet discount may not be transferred if it has been transferred within the last year.

Members who subscribe to Seasonal or Vacation Service are not eligible for the Lifeline discount.

For further information, please contact Orange County REMC Member Service at 812.865.2229 and an Orange County REMC representative will be happy to answer your questions.
