Orange County REMC is proud to introduce our 2025 Student Board of Directors — a group of bright, motivated high school students who represent the next generation of community leaders.
Reese Petty — President
High School: Orleans Jr./Sr. High School
Grade: 11

About Reese
Reese is a dedicated student with big goals for the future. He plans to attend a four-year college to study business and finance, with hopes of becoming a financial advisor. In addition to his academic focus, Reese is active in BPA and National Honor Society, where he continues to grow his leadership and teamwork skills. Outside of the classroom, he enjoys running, basketball, swimming, reading, and weightlifting.
Why He Joined the Board
Reese joined the Student Board of Directors to become more involved in his community and to explore his interests in business administration and finance. Through this experience, Reese hopes to develop strong leadership skills and make a positive impact in the world.
Fun Fact
Reese has a dog named Mocha and two cats named Skittles and Smokey.
Havanna Morgan — Vice President
High School: Orleans Jr./Sr. High School
Grade: 11

About Havanna
Havanna is passionate about helping others and hopes to have an influence on the lives of young students. She plans to attend college to become an early childhood education teacher. Outside of school, Havanna enjoys participating in color guard, spending time with friends, and being active in her church community.
Why She Joined the Board
When Havanna first heard about the Student Board of Directors, she immediately thought it was the perfect opportunity for her. She wanted to be part of something meaningful — something that would help her stand out and make a difference. While many of her classmates focus on sports or other activities, Havanna saw this program as something important to help her grow as a leader.
Fun Fact
Havanna’s favorite restaurant is Golden Corral.
Ava Deaton — Secretary
High School: Homeschool
Grade: 11

About Ava
Ava is a talented and dedicated student who enjoys using her gifts to inspire others. Though she is still undecided about her plans after high school, she is passionate about staying active and involved in her community. Ava enjoys volleyball and singing, and she serves as both a 4-H leader and group inspirational leader. She is also a worship leader, vocalist, and bass player.
Why She Joined the Board
Ava joined the Student Board of Directors to grow as a leader while contributing to her community. She enjoys working with others, taking action, and learning new skills. Through this opportunity, Ava hopes to give back to Orange County, build meaningful connections, and prepare for her future goals in both education and career.
Fun Fact
Ava’s favorite TV show is Friends.
Evelyn Taylor
High School: Mitchell High School
Grade: 11

About Evelyn
Evelyn is a creative and motivated student with an interest in exploring different paths for her future. She plans to attend college and is considering a career in criminal justice, though she is also open to discovering new opportunities along the way. Outside of academics, Evelyn enjoys singing, acting, and creating art, expressing herself through a variety of creative outlets.
Why She Joined the Board
Evelyn joined the Student Board of Directors to learn more about her community and explore new career opportunities. She sees this experience as a way to strengthen her communication skills and make a greater impact when interacting with others. Evelyn is excited to give back to her community while helping create opportunities for future generations.
Fun Fact
Evelyn’s favorite colors include purple and orange.
Alyssa Hughes
High School: Springs Valley Jr./Sr. High School
Grade: 11

About Alyssa
Alyssa is a motivated student with a deep love for the ocean. She plans to become a marine biologist and is excited to pursue a future that combines her curiosity for marine life with her dedication to environmental conservation. Alyssa enjoys writing, hiking, and scuba diving, and she stays active in several school organizations, including Student Council, where she serves as secretary, as well as FFA, FCCLA, Pep Club, SADD, and FCA.
Why She Joined the Board
Alyssa joined the Student Board of Directors because she cares deeply about her community and wants to be involved in projects that make a positive difference. She believes this opportunity will help her learn more about leadership, teamwork, and service, while also allowing her to contribute her own ideas and energy. Alyssa is excited to give back to her community and to grow both personally and academically by strengthening the skills that will support her future career and education.
Fun Fact
Alyssa single-handedly converted an old chicken coop into Portland’s first “Wind Phone,” creating a unique space for community members to process grief.
Willow Rosbottom
High School: Crawford County High School
Grade: 11

About Willow
Willow is a hardworking and adventurous student who plans to attend the University of Louisville to earn a degree in mechanical engineering. Outside the classroom, Willow loves hunting, fishing, traveling, and baking. She is also involved in Science Club, FFA, Booster Club, National Honor Society, and Prom Committee, where she plays an active role in school activities and leadership.
Why She Joined the Board
Willow joined the Student Board of Directors to make a positive change in her community. She wants to make a difference in Orange County and leave a lasting impact for future generations. Through her time on the board, Willow hopes to contribute ideas and efforts that help better her county and inspire others to get involved.
Fun Fact
Willow attends Hillview Christian Church where she teaches a 3–5-year-old class.
Orange County REMC’s Student Board of Directors program gives high school students a unique opportunity to gain experience of how a cooperative works, develop leadership skills, and represent their schools in community initiatives.
Students participate in monthly meetings, community service projects, and leadership workshops throughout the year.
